NextStreet Gallery is pleased to invite you to a meeting with the artist Huang Yulong, who is visiting Paris to launch a new series of editions.

Renowned for his bold fusion of tradition and modernity, the Beijing-based artist’s work explores the human body in motion through dynamic silhouettes, capturing the grace and energy of breakdancing.
Each piece stands as a visual metaphor for the tension between body control and freedom of expression. The figures, frozen in dynamic postures that defy gravity, highlight the strength and flexibility inherent in urban dance.

Huang Yulong, born in 1982, has long been drawn to Hip Hop culture and its dance element, which he practices himself. This deep connection is echoed in his sculptural representations, which elevate the beauty of movement and gestures through robust yet delicately crafted materials.

The momentum and spirit that transcend cultural boundaries, as we experienced in his solo show Bronze to Beats in Spring 2023, continue through this series of editions, which underscore the universal power of the body in motion.

By reinterpreting the language of the streets in a timeless artistic form, Yulong invites us to rethink the relationship between classical art and contemporary expression. Whether from an Eastern or Western culture, we are also invited on a deeper quest: to capture that perfect moment of balance where tension and harmony meet.
